Destination wedding in the Caribbeans: Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Island by Thuy Minh Hussey

Since their engagement session with me last year, Ashlea and Eric moved from Virginia to Kansas. A destination wedding is something that they had wished for since they started planning. As they felt comfortable with me and had loved their engagement photos, they flew me out to Providenciales in Turks and Caicos to shoot their wedding! I was nicely surprised to be included in all the wedding events: welcome dinner, rehearsal dinner, bridal tea and bachelorette party!

It was awesome to already be on location: I didn’t have to worry about traffic or finding the venue! The morning of the wedding, I was able to go to the beach and relax before it started... Something unheard of!

Ashlea and Eric had planned an intimate wedding with 25 guests. As we had hoped, the weather was fantastic, and the surroundings were beautiful! The ceremony site overlooked a beach of white sand and teal water. The bride had involved her brothers in the ceremony: she was walked down the aisle by her big brother Don, as her father was unable to come to Turks and Caicos. Her other brother Jonathan facetimed the ceremony for him, so that he wouldn’t miss it. And Ashlea’s 3rd brother David did a reading during the ceremony. We were a little behind on schedule (as it’s often the case at weddings), we didn’t have as much time for bridal portraits before the reception. But we were still able to go on the beach for a few minutes, and we got some beautiful portraits. The reception was at the French Village in an elegant setting. The groom surprised the bride with a choreographed dance, assisted with his groomsmen.

It was a lovely wedding! I had heard so much about their friends and family that it was so nice to finally being able to meet them. I just love weddings: yes, they’re beautiful with all the details and attires, but what I truly love is to witness 2 people who love each other so much that they are willing to take vows in front of the most important people in their lives. And that was the case at Ashlea and Eric’s wedding <3

A woodland chic wedding at a horse farm - Fredericksburg, Virginia by Thuy Minh Hussey

I've loved about Beth and Brendon's quiet elegance since I first met them. They share a wicked sense of humor, a love for plaid and for The Walking Dead (among other things!).

They had the choice to get married in the US or in the Bride's native Canada. They settled on Moon Valley Farm, a horse farm in Fredericksburg Virginia, for their woodland chic wedding. This is one of my favorite venues, it's laid back and filled with whimsical details, such as a photo booth, a trailer converted to a bar, and another for Smore's!

The Bride wore a beautiful Kate Spade gown and her parents gifted her earrings from the same designer. The Groom had selected his own attire, a stylish blue gray suit with a beautiful lining and a vest. Him and his groomsmen had controller-shaped cuff links and funny socks! There was also an inside joke: at the reception, some of their closest friends surprised Brendon by putting on t-shirts personalized with his picture making a silly face...

A special thank you to all the talented vendors who helped making Beth and Brendon's day so special:

A little black church in Iceland by Thuy Minh Hussey

instant de vie photography (33).jpg

Budir is located in the western region of Iceland, in the Snaefellsnes peninsula. There is a little black church there, located between the mountains and the sea. I just couldn't believe that I got to be there, it was so beautiful and completely opposite to my every day life in Virginia.

Wedding at the St Regis in Washington DC by Thuy Minh Hussey

It was a chilly wedding day for Jenya and Danny, but the location was so gorgeous, the weather did not really matter. If you've never been to the St Regis in DC, this luxurious hotel is just a block away from the White House. For this black tie affair, there were many stunning details, such as the Bride's Manolo Blahnik shoes and her jewelry from Tiffany & Co. The Groom looked quite dashing too in his black tuxedo. The blush roses at the ceremony and reception completed the elegant look of this wedding. I was crazy about those tall centerpieces with crystals wrapped around them.

Opposites attract: a trendy look in a classic venue by Thuy Minh Hussey

I love the idea that opposites attract! To illustrate this concept, this trendy Justin Alexander bridal gown was the perfect choice as it contrasted with the classic look of Salubria plantation. Catherine from Davis and Main Style chose soft waves for the hairstyle, but with a twist, by adding a few braids on one side. The traditional preferred gemstone for engagement rings tend to be a diamond. But in this case, Catherine and I decided on picking something more unexpected with a gorgeous emerald ring, while the ring setting still gave it a traditional look.
